• What to do in a wreck?

The first thing you should do is call 911. Stay calm, a car accident is a very traumatic experiance but getting exited is not going to help you. Wait for first responders and do your best to help others if they need assistance. Now after the poilce arrive here is a tip to help you save money. By law every police agency has a "rotation" that they use to decide wich towing service will be called to the scene of he accident. Sometimes the officer will ask you if you have a preference, but most of the time they assume you do not. You have the right to decide who you want to call. The only rule is that your service must be able to respond in a timely fashion. 

 

• Why should I care who they call?

This is simple! For starters, you have no idea who will be taking care of your car. You do not have a choice of where it goes, but most importantly the price goes up extremely fast. For those who have good insurance this is not normally a problem, however the simple truth is that most people do not have towing coverage. All local police agencies set the price for towing on rotation. For example the SC highway patrol as of 2016 sets the price just under $200.00. If you are off the road in a ditch it is $100.00 more and another $100.00 per hour. So if it takes one hour to pull you out of a ditch and onto the tow truck that could eaisly be $400.00. Then you have to pay storage on your car at a average price of $25.00 a day. This gets expensive VERY fast. We should note however, a towing company IS allowed to charge less, but how often to do you really think that happens? Once a tow truck is called you have no more options, why charge you less when they have your car?

 

• What can I do?

Only after it is safe to do so, and the officer is able to listen to your request politley tell the officer that you have your own towing service and that you wish to call them instead. The police do not get any compensation for using any particular towing service so there should be no reason why the officer would care who you call, as long as they are fast and get the job done. The officer may allow you to call them yourself, or he may wish to do so for you. Either way is perfectly acceptable and we enjoy helping our friends in blue and are happy to speak with either them or you.

 

• All i need is a chain and a truck?

Please NO! If you become stranded or have a small fenderbender please do not call a "friend" We do understand that all situations are different and if you are experianced with things like this it may work just fine for you, and we hope it does. However more often than not this is a very bad idea. We have the equipment and are trained to handle anything you need. "Yanking" a car out of a ditch does more damage than it is worth and if someone calls you in as a wreck, and they often do the police will arrive in short order. They will NOT allow you to continue. Suddenly they call their own tow truck and your stuck with a hudge bill. We know how to deal with the police, we have the proper safety equipment and are allowed at the scene of a accident. More often than not we have you on your way before anyone even notices. Besides do you really want to get a ticket for driving to fast? The police will want to know how it happend.

 

• ​I locked my keys in my car

These days you make a living with a smart phone not a farm. Thats ok, thats just how things are now.
